Summary
Business Information Systems (BIS) have been designed to deal with data records and activities that process the data and information in a given organization. The shift in the Business Information Systems paradigm over the last decade has led to a tremendous change in the Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Business-to-Business (B2B) domain. Particularly, the need for bridging the gap between stovepipe legacy systems and the upcoming Service-oriented Computing (SOC) has become a cutting-edge research challenge, upgrading business processes and trading partners transactions to a new breed of technologies.
In our research cluster, we aim to apply Semantic Technologies to bring Business Information Systems to their full potential. This objective may be broken down into a number of complementary research strands such as:
- Business Process Integration
- Intelligent Web Services Management
- Semantic Annotation and Querying
- Knowledge intensive information classification and retrieval
